Over two thirds (67.5%) of UK homes had access to a subscription video-on-demand (SVOD) service in the first quarter of 2025, according to Barb.
According to the research board’s Establishment Survey 20.1 million UK homes had access to a streaming platform in Q1.
Netflix: 17.4 million UK homes, or 59.2% of homes. Only 28% of UK Netflix homes (4.8 million) were subscribed to the platform’s advertising tier, however.
Amazon Prime Video: 13.4 million UK homes, or 45.7% of homes, with 87% of Prime Video homes subscribed to the platform’s ad tier.
Disney+: 7.3 million UK homes, or 24.8% of homes, with 23% of Disney+ homes subscribed to the platform’s advertising tier.
Discovery+: 3.1 million UK homes, or 10.6% of homes.
Paramount+: 3.1 million UK homes, or 10.5% of homes. Paramount had the largest quarter-on-quarter increase in UK home penetration in the list, up from 2.7 million in Q4 2024.
Apple TV+: 2.7 million UK homes, or 9.1% of homes.
NOW: 1.8 million UK homes, or 6.2% of homes. NOW was the only platform that declined in penetration between Q4 2024 and Q1 2025. In Q4 2024 it was in 2 million homes.
