Euro Trash or 3D heaven

Eurovision came to fans throughout the week in glorious 3D

If the fans couldn’t come to the annual cheese fest in Euro pop music, then the Eurovision would come to the fans. Or as the organisers put it, Rotterdam would come to the world.

The Eurovision Village had been recreated in 3D as a virtual world fans could tour and drop in on exclusive pre-recorded and live performances. Like a mini virtual festival, fans could walk from one area to another in the hope of catching a live act at the Village, including Johnny Logan who won it for Ireland back in 1980 with “What’s Another Year”.

There were a series of interviews and behind-the-scenes as well as an area where viewers could immerse themselves in what people were saying about the competition on social media.

Visitors could also go beyond the Eurovision Village and take a tour of Rotterdam where areas of note were introduced by people with a connection to the city, such as the city’s mayor, Ahmed Aboutaleb.
